Students Selected to Represent EREC in Washington this June

Congratulations to Abigail Bott — Central High, Jackson Flowers – Jay High, and Timmy Locklin – Jay High, for winning the 2017 Washington Youth Tour contest.

Area students were interviewed by a panel of judges for a chance to win this great opportunity provided by Escambia River Electric Cooperative.

Judges from PowerSouth Energy Cooperative in Andalusia, Alabama, and Southern Pine Electric Cooperative in Brewton, Alabama, scored contestants based on their knowledge of EREC and the history of rural electrification. Personal attributes of each candidate such as character, academic ability, personality, and leadership skills also were considered.

While representing EREC in Washington in June, Abigail, Jackson, and Timmy will have the opportunity to see the sights, learn about our nation’s capital and rural electrification, and meet many new friends.

EREC is proud to have these three outstanding students represent the co-op on the Washington Youth Tour this year. Congratulations to each of them on achieving this honor.
