Celebrating the Cooperative Difference
October is National Co-op Month, a time to celebrate what makes cooperatives like EREC special. Unlike many businesses that answer to outside investors or shareholders, cooperatives are owned by the people they serve. Our focus is on providing value to our members and strengthening the communities we call home.
EREC’s story began in 1939 when local neighbors came together to bring electricity to an area other utilities would not serve. A lot has changed since then, but our purpose has remained the same. We are here to provide safe, reliable electricity while making decisions with our members and communities in mind.
You can see the cooperative difference every day. It’s in our lineworkers restoring power after a storm, employees helping members, our involvement in local schools and events, and board members who live right here in the communities we serve.
This National Co-op Month, we especially want to celebrate you, our members. As a small thank you, we’ve included something special on the back page of this newsletter. EREC members can enjoy free admission to one of three local high school football games while helping us support our local schools and athletic programs.
Thank you for being a member of EREC. This is your cooperative, and we are proud to serve you.
