EREC is Prepared for Hurricane Zeta

October 28, 2020, 8:00 am – As Hurricane Zeta strengthens and continues its path toward a predicted landfall along the northern Gulf Coast tonight, Escambia River Electric Cooperative is prepared to respond. EREC’s service area is currently under a tropical storm warning.

“Hurricane Zeta is predicted to make landfall tonight along the Louisiana coast,” said Ryan Campbell, CEO. “Wind and rain may bring down trees and power lines as Zeta moves inland. With safety as our top priority, we are prepared to respond to whatever impacts our area may sustain from the storm.”

Crews from Clay Electric Cooperative in Keystone Heights, Florida, are staged and ready to assist our linemen as soon as storm conditions subside should Zeta cause damage to our power system. Additional crews will be on standby to respond if needed.

EREC urges members to stay abreast of the storm’s development, take necessary safety precautions and prepare for possible power outages due to impacts from Hurricane Zeta.
